On Thursday December 20th, the London Dojo hosted Simon Staples Sensei for the 2nd annual Christmas course. The first part of the course was an eye-opening approach to Shotokan karate, moving away from the formal stances, pulled hikitae and long fighting distance, and including the evasive movements and take downs more classically associated with boxing/other martial arts. During the second part of the course, sensei following this with some key concepts of ground work, including escapes and submissions. It was an excellent course, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. We hope to have Sensei Staples back again soon!
