The 2009 Portsmouth Open Shotokan Karate Championships were held on Saturday 21st November at the Mountbattern Centre in Portsmouth. SSKI sent down Karateka representatives at all grade levels who were successful in both Kumite and Kata.
Sensei Teiki won Silver in the 5 Man Team Kumite event and also won Bronze in the 3 man Team Kumite event which also comprised of Sensei Dan and Sensei Douglas from the Hemel Dojo.
Rachael Houlton won Gold in the 9th – 1st Kyu Kata competition which comprised over 15 competitors and also won Gold in the 9th – 1st Kyu Womens Kumite event.
Monika Orban won Bronze in the 9th – 1st Kyu Womans Kumite event.
